Morbidelli heads Bonhams auction

-

The largest single collection of motorcycles ever offered by Bonhams will be auctioned at their Autumn Sales at Stafford, UK, from 18-20 October, 2019. Around 300 bikes from the world famous Morbidelli Museum in Pesaro, Italy, will go under the hammer. These were collected by founder Giancarlo Morbidelli over a 40 year period and as well as some of the motorcycles he created himself, the offerings include extremely rare examples from other manufacturers. One such is the 250cc supercharged Benelli which was built but never raced due to the outbreak of WW2. Morbidelli totally rebuilt the Benelli to fully-operational condition and it is expected to fetch between £400,00-£600,00. Another completely unique racer is the 4-cylinder 125cc Ducati which was built in 1964 and also never raced before disappearing. The engine was located in Russia and the chassis in Croatia, then rebuilt by Giancarlo. The Ducati is expected to reach a similar figure to the 250cc Benelli. There are also numerous examples of the Morbidelli factory’s own racers to be sold. For a link to the catalogue see: https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/25384/
