Triples Rally

10th Aussie Triples Rally • 16-18 August, 2019 – Evans Head, NSW

- Report and photos Col McAndrew

This year’s rally was again based at the beautiful seaside town of Evans Head, Northern NSW. We had 55 entrants bring their Triumph Tridents and BSA Rocket 3s for three days of riding in perfect weather. Entrants came from as far as South Australia, Victoria, the ACT and Queensland. Many rode large distances to the Rally while others trailered their bikes. Friday’s short ride was north to Brunswick Pub for a chat, and to meet up with the Queensland contingent. Saturday we headed off for a 220km ride, bypassing Lismore and enjoying the sights as we road through Nimbin to the fuel stop at Kyogle. We then journeyed on to Wardell Sports Club for lunch and the bike judging. We had a variety of Triples including T150s

T160s, Rocket 3s, Hurricanes and Specials. After lunch we headed back to Evans Head. The presentation

Dinner was held at the Evans Bowlo and included our annual charity auction of anything Triple. The Trident and Rocket 3 Owners Club in England sent Club Merchandise out for the event. Jeff from Re-engineered Concentrics donated some very unique Trophies made from old Amal Carbies. We were also supported by Reflections

Holiday Park, Evans Head Bowlo, David and Ian from Classic Triumph and TMRA. The Auction raised $1,000 for Cystic Fibrosis Research, and $200 for Evans Head Surf Club.

Sunday saw a few sore heads and fine weather. We lined up the Triples and the Marshals’ bikes in the Main St of Evans Head for a public display for 2 hours. This created a lot of interest with people travelling long distances to view them. Following this display we had a two hour ride returning to Reflections Holiday Park, Evans Head for a BBQ lunch, supplied by the park management, as a farewell to entrants and a thank you to the Marshals from Northern Rivers Classic Motorcycle Club who once again did an amazing job of guiding us through our hinterland roads.

The preparation and presentation of these bikes is commendable, with the only breakdown being one Trident with battery failure. Some of the entrants remained in the area and travelled 1 hour south to Grafton to attend the Clarence Valley Classic Clubs’ Annual Rally, which was held the following weekend. Planning for Aussie Triples No. 11 has already commenced.
