Old Bike Australasia

Late lunch

-

An old copy of OBA was left for the taking on the table at our last Melbourne Velocette Owners Club meeting. Encouraged by the editor for photos and a few words on anything interesting prompted me to submit this photo of my 1937 MSS, taken on this year’s Victoria-based weekend ride in March. Many club members from Victoria, a few from NSW and one couple from New Zealand met at and stayed at Beechworth, the main ride being on the Saturday. A

follow the leader ride with whoever was behind the leader to stop at each corner and guide the rest to the next turning point. It was approaching our lunch stop that, around one corner, the vista appeared of Lake Hume with its low water level evident, lush grass at the high points amongst the water. Another corner and we were blessed with the sight of the dam wall we had to cross. Riding, crossing and thinking that would make a great shot I made the effort to stop, go back, set the bike up and take this photo. I think it was worth being a few minutes late for lunch.
