You may remember that I contributed to your excellent article on the XL250 last year, so I thought I might relate to you an interesting experience I had the other day. I took the XL 250 to the local bike/car show and luckily took out Best Restored bike in the show, which is interesting in itself but not why I’m writing. I was sitting with my wife enjoying the show and a guy walks up and asks me if that is my bike having recognised it in your magazine recently. I said it was and he went on to say how much he enjoyed the article about my restoration process (and dramas!) which he found very honest and refreshing. He was nervous and unsure previously about taking on the task of a restoration but after reading the article he has finally started and is on his way through a restoration! It’s nice sometimes to realise you have inspired someone to proceed on something like this.

A friend in Perth has just completed his restoration of a 1972 Honda XL250. He has done most of the work himself and has achieved an outstanding finished product.
