Ducati takes over
April 2020 will see the changing of the guard for Ducati motorcycles in Australia and New Zealand, when the iconic Italian company, now part of the VW Group, takes over distribution via a wholly-owned subsidiary. Rather than being supplied from the Bologna factory, Ducati motorcycles for the Asia Pacific market, including Australasia, will henceforth be supplied from the factory in Thailand. The new entity will be under the control of Spaniard Sergio Canovas who is presently Managing Director of Ducati India Pvt. Ltd. Since 1964, Ducati has been synonymous in Australia with NF Importers, established by former Dirt Track star Norm Fraser, and the relationship will continue with Fraser Motorcycles selling the brand through four main dealerships.
