US invades International Challenge

The 27th running of the Island Classic will see a very determined US team descend on Phillip Island over the Australian Day long weekend in 2020.

-

After pushing the Australian side all the way in 2019, the Americans will be determined to bridge the gap for the prestigious trophy, while Australia will be just as keen to defend it. Heading the US side will be 4-times AMA Superbike Champion Josh Hayes, who won the final leg in 2019 in convincing fashion. Hayes will be ably supported by Larry Pegram, who has four round wins to his name in the US Superbike Championship, with the rest of the squad to be announced in the coming weeks. The US team will once again be managed by Dave Crussell. It is anticipated the International Challenge will also

see other national teams face the starter, with negotiations continuing as we went to press.

As well as the International Challenge, the meeting will see a complete program of support events with everything from Period 2 to New Era solos. An optional practice day will be held on Thursday January 23rd, 2020, with official practice and qualifying on Friday, and racing over both days of the weekend. Entries for this meeting can be placed through the Ridernet system on the Motorcycling Australia website, www.ma.org.au. For details, visit... www.phillipislandcircuit.com.au
