The 26 lap Special

-

At the 1976 Easter Bathurst meeting, Rob Hinton won the 250 and 350 Australian Grand Prix on Saturday and placed 5th in the 500cc GP on Sunday on the same TZ350B Yamaha (fitted with a 250 motor for that race) which had been built up by Eric Hinton. It became known as the 26 Lap Special. Its features were works Norton front forks, Tony

Henderson rear wheel and disc set up, Mulholland shocks and Don Vesco Daytona seat.

The bike was sold to Sedge Deste and then sold to me. In the early ‘90s the bike was sold to a Mr Ron Bastick and it was still sporting the Vesco seat and Norton Forks but a modified TZ C model fairing was on the bike and it was painted in white with red panels on the fairing and white stars, similar to Warren Willing’s TZ 750. The number it raced under at this point was 10 but it was later sold with the number 21 on it. I would greatly appreciate any pictures and knowledge regarding its present owner and location as it has a great deal of sentimental value to me. This photo I have enclosed shows how it looked when sold (below left).
