The Bantam brothers
David and Tony (Bones) Farmer operate Oz BSA Bantams, a small on-line business catering to the needs of owners of BSA Bantam motorcycles. Oz Bantams provides a wide range of parts for those restoring or maintaining Bantams and provide engine rebuild and other engineering services for customers. The boys have run Oz BSA Bantams since 2016 and have expanded the range of stock items sold almost threefold. Many of these parts are no longer available anywhere so the brothers make a wide range of parts themselves or have them made locally to their specifications. The items even include the Bones CDI electronic ignition system for Bantams.
The brothers also undertake engine rebuilds and occasional full restorations. Between them they own a collection of 9 Bantams including a 1948 D1 which is believed to be the oldest Bantam in Australia. The boys have decided to put the business up for sale and are welcoming enquiries. Bones has recently taken on a promotion with increased time pressures and David admits to wanting to exercise his wanderlust as a grey nomad. “It’s a fair bet the next owner of Oz BSA Bantams is a reader of OBA and is as passionate about old bikes as we are,” says David.
