Old Bike Australasia

Rich mixture

The photo attached (above) was taken by co-traveller Rob in 1983 in France; a trip through France and Spain. I had the MZ250, bought cheap in London. Friend Rob who took the photo had the CM250 Honda, also bought in London at the same time. Pam, girlfriend at the time looking pensively at our means of transport. The photo was taken in Rochefort in France. The MZ’s exhaust had bogged up, we were waiting for surgery on same before proceeding to Spain. It was done promptly by a local mechanic. Going over the high pass to Spain, the MZ ran sluggishly, smoky and rich at high altitude. I can’t remember the exact model of the MZ, but it did run OK most of the time. The CM had no issues; a class above the MZ. Always look forward to the next issue of OBA.
