Indefatigable Des

-

Des Molloy is well known to readers, with his never ending thirst for motorcycling adventure, usually on his faithful 600 Panther ‘Penelope’. Along the way, Des has generated enough anecdotes to fill a library, let alone a book, but he is more than aware of the difficulties in converting these memories to print. Finding a publisher willing to underwrite the print run, then finding outlets willing to stock the books is a thankless task, and an expensive one. So, after a number of frustrating experiences, Des decided to set up his own. “Boldly I decided I would set up my own publishing entity. Working with a good professional designer and a publishing ‘enabler’ with 26 print partners has produced good quality books which are supposedly available through 40,000 retailers worldwide.” The company is called Kahuka Publishing, and you will find a review of two of their products in this issue’s Eyes Right section. Several books on Des’ exploits have already been published, and there are more to come. “After more than 50 years of riding through more than 50 countries, the joy of firing up a moto to go for a ride, short or long, remains as exciting as ever”. Des hopes to head to Tasmania in Autumn 2021 to complete a lap of the Apple Isle on Penelope, and this will no doubt generate yet another tome in the series.
