The racing Jemisons
Kay Jemison writes: “Little Charli, Bob Jemison’s 10th great grandchild sitting proudly on Bob’s beloved Velocette at the National Motorcycle Museum at Nabiac, NSW. Bob passed away almost three years ago and is sadly missed by his family. Bob raced the Velocette and won 15 lightweight races on the bike and also raced a Lambretta and Nortons. Bob came from a motorcycle racing family; his dad Tommy Jemison won many races at Bathurst and broke the Australian
Land Speed Record for 250cc. Bill Jemison,
Bob’s brother raced in England during the
1950s. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree; four of Bob’s grandsons race motorbikes and were taught when they were very young by their Pa Bobby.
I guess it is in the genes.”
