Old Bike Australasia

Pheasant Wood gears up

-

When Historic Racing began in Australia in the mid ‘seventies, it was all about bikes (and cars) from the first sixty-odd years of last century. In the passage of time, Historic classes have expanded way beyond that, but on September 11/12 it’s back to the good old days for the inaugural Pheasant Wood All Historic Race Meeting.

This event is restricted to motorcycles up to Period 3 (Pre 1963) and Pre 1961 Racing and Sports Cars.

The circuit itself is 1.6km in length so it will suit the older vehicles, and entries are open now for $200 which includes both Ride Day and Race events. One-event MA licences will be available for this meeting. Spectators will be able to access the pit area at times, to get up close to the machinery and talk to competitors. Entries already in include third generation rider William Vassella who will ride his father Vic’s Norton Atlas, while Vic himself will be aboard his father’s Rudge, which won pre-war

NSW and Australian titles at Penrith Speedway.

The circuit is located on Jerrara Road, approximately 30km north of Goulburn and easily accessible from the Hume Highway.
