David Bowen

- Alyn Vincent

DAVID BOWEN, possibly the last of the employees at the Vincent Motor Cycle Company has passed away on March 5th 2021 at the age of 88 in Adelaide.

David was apprenticed to Vincent in 1949 and met fellow apprentice John Surtees there. They were to become lifelong friends. While he didn’t get to build Lightnings, David did learn a lot about the people, the design and the construction of The Vincent. After leaving Vincent, David worked as a motor car sales manager and mainly dealt with Jaguar cars. In retirement he built up a formidable network in helping people buy and sell Vincents as well as supplying rare parts to those in need. Due to the world-wide nature of collectors he was often on the phone at 3 am to the UK or some other far flung part of the world but could always be contacted at 7 am the same day. The Vincent world has lost a treasure trove of information with his passing. Of course that is nothing compared to the loss his wife Delma is suffering. Valé and farewell.
