Brisbane Expo winds up
After a five-month run, ‘The Motorcycle: Design, Art, Desire’ came to a close at the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) in Brisbane on 26 April.
Deputy Director, Collections & Exhibitions, Simon Elliot said, “The show commenced in late November 2020 and was probably the first exhibition in the world to open its doors during the Covid-19 era, with international loans. We were able to showcase over 100 motorcycles – no small feat. The response to the exhibition has been truly amazing, especially given multiple periods of lockdown and ongoing social distancing.
“We have not yet finalised attendance numbers and a full exhibition report will be circulated in due course, however we are pleased that over 100,000 people visited ‘The Motorcycle’ and many spent hours enjoying the exhibition. Many of the keen visitors who had the opportunity to see the show expressed their delight in witnessing the incredible machines and, indeed, on the quality of the display of the bikes. Many of these enthralled patrons were new to the Gallery, which was a real benefit to holding such a design-innovation exhibition.”
