Jim Davis: Supersalesman

I was saddened to see in OBA 94 that Jim Davis had moved to the great Accessory Shop in the sky. It is never easy to find the time for countless reps who invade your small business, especially one such as Motorcycle Specialties, whose catalogue was over 150mm thick, but Jim was one of the best! He knew every item in that book, and his spiel opened verbally with the latest products, and a chat (his nickname locally was Radio 4JD!). There was no pressure selling, and not unsurprisingly this led to fairly solid orders, such was the manner of the man. I enjoyed knowing Jim for more than 20 years, a top bloke, and certainly as reps go one of the absolute best!
