Alan Phillips

-

A stalwart of the Macquarie Towns Motorcycle Restoration and Preservation Club in Sydney’s Hawkesbury district, ALAN PHILLIPS passed away in June aged 66, after a long battle with Mesothelioma.

Alan was noted for his quiet, unassuming manner and the quality of his restorations, several of which have been featured in OBA (see OBA 72 HarleyDavidson 350 and OBA 80 BSA B31). For many years Alan organised the popular MTMPRC Show Day at Windsor. Alan competed in Historic Racing in the 1980s, riding at Amaroo Park, Bathurst and Eastern Creek on a BSA, but latterly spent more time on rallies and social rides. An electrician by trade, much of Alan’s working life was spent crawling around in rooves that were often lined with asbestos material – a hazardous occupation that would result in serious health issues later in life. Alan was farewelled by a large group of friends, relatives and club members on 18th June.
