Mid-north meandering Coffs Harbour & District Motorcycle Restorers Restore and Ride Rally • 21-23 May, 2021 – Sawtell Beach, NSW
The principal aim of the Australian Ariel Register is to keep Ariel motorcycles on the road. With that in mind the Australian Ariel Register holds an Ariel rally every year hosted by members taking turns in various states. Because of concerns with Covid 19, the 2020 Annual Rally was postponed 12 months and was held at the same venue. Lesley and Brian Fleming, the principal organisers at this rally, had the task of notifying all meal providers etc about the change of dates. The week before the rally had heavy rainfall and was not conducive to riding motorcycles, but after many prayers it fined up to beautiful weather throughout. What a lovely area to see.
Day 1 was filled with registration with a small ride on the Friday of about 35 km to Maroon Dam and return. Day 2 commenced with an Ariel motorcycle display with judging carried out by one’s peers for best of models for prizes handed out at the Saturday night dinner. This was followed by a run via Kalbar and Moogerah Dam to lunch at Mt. Alford Hotel and then a return to Boonah to get ready for Saturday’s AGM and presentation dinner. Day 3 started with an Ariel swap meet where members bring along goodies left over from their various projects and then a longer ride through Warrill View for smoko at the local Bush Fire brigade, and on to Rosewood for lunch at the Memorial Hall before returning to Boonah on quiet roads. Two bikes came back on the breakdown trailers, one with a broken clutch cable and one with a loose magneto. So there ended the Ariel Rally 2021 with a final BBQ and speeches thanking the organisers for their fine work. The 2022 rally will be at Wangaratta, Victoria, for which planning is already underway.
