Broadford Bonanza is ‘Go’ for 2022

-

Always one of the most popular events on the calendar, the Shannons Insurance Broadford Bonanza is back for 2022 over the Easter weekend, April 15-17, promoted by the Motorcycling Australia Museum & Heritage Committee.

M & H Chairman David White says that MA is right behind the event and will work closely with the committee. What was to be the theme for the 2021 BBB – American Iron – will remain for 2022, but David says there will be a strong push to gather as many ‘Australian Icons’ as possible. To this end, several of the most significant bikes in the MA collection will be made track-ready, and others sought out. “For 2022, there will be a renewed focus on the original aims – to unearth long-lost machinery and give it a chance to stretch its legs again, encourage lapsed riders back, and provide a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. With no need for log books, competition licences and so on, it is an easy event in which to participate. It’s also a great social occasion and the camping side has always been very popular. Naturally the event will be conducted under Covid regulations at the time.”

A new natural terrain area will be set aside for use by the earlier motocross and scrambles bikes, while the Broadford motocross circuit will host the later models. As well, there will be an Enduro over the two days, Dirt Track, Speedway, Trials and non-stop action on the road race track.

All enquiries regarding entry and camping should be directed to the Event Secretary, Rachelle Pettifer on 0408 652 877 email: Rachelle@ma.org.au. For information on the Speedway and Dirt Track sections, contact Rick Wason on 0427 500 881 or email rwason@bigpond.net.au
