After missing the 2020 event, Atujara Motorcycle Club conducted their annual meet on the historic Collingrove Hill Climb, a 750 metre climb rising 70 metres, in perfect weather. The event incorporated the Laurie Boulter and Hec Henderson perpetual trophies. Entries comprised 42 solos, 1 scooter and 10 sidecars. Fastest climb of the day went to 450 Husqvarna-mounted Jay Presepio (the 2019 Laurie Boulter winner) in the well-supported S2 Supermoto class with a time of 32.602 seconds. In the three-wheeler ranks, quickest in the Modern Class was Jed Rohrlach/Scott Wait (KTM 990) at 39.574 seconds, and Geoffrey Grant/Gregory Black (Kawasaki 750) in the Historic class, while fastest in the Historic classes went to Shane Church (P5 Yamaha 400) at 36.011.

Plenty of interesting machinery was being raced, some way past their original intent. Otto Muller brought one of his beloved Adlers, Keith Wissell a 1000cc Harley, first time hill-climber Paul Dempsey rode a couple of beautiful classics, Wayne Fazzalari rode with Rob Schmidt on a 580 VMC outfit as well as a BSA Rickman solo and Paul Cawthorne rode his Stone Replica 900 Kawasaki, although he was beaten by son Reece on his 700 Husqvarna.

After seven runs the class competition was complete. The fastest five sidecars and ten solos were then invited to complete a one-run dash up the hill for the premier competitions, the Hec Henderson Sidecar and Laurie Boulter Solo trophies with Scott Wait and Jed Rohrlach and Jay Presepio the winners. All trophy recipients appreciated the handmade trophies handed out, all made from various motorcycle parts, making the trophies as unique as the event.

Roll on the 2022 Laurie Boulter Solo and Hec Henderson Sidecar Hill Climb the lone motorcycle only hill climb in Australia.. ■
