Stealth vision

These days, so-called Dash Cams are vital pieces of equipment that are increasingly being used in cars and trucks. The information they record can be of great use for establishing insurance claims as well as defending driving charges and the like. Now there’s a system that’s specially designed for motorcycles, ATVs and even small watercraft. The Kenwood STZ-RF200WD provides front and rear vision via two separate cameras with superb picture quality and clarity. A built-in GPS receiver records the location information for the video. A 3-axis G-Sensor with adjustable sensitivity detects a collision and triggers video recording. Importantly, the components resist high-pressure sprays of water and are fully sealed against dust entry. The heart of the system is the Main Unit which should be mounted somewhere secure (like under the seat, near the battery), and where there is adequate access for inserting and removing the SD card. A 32GB SD card is supplied with the unit and can record up to two and a half hours, but larger capacity cards up to 256GB can be used to extend recording time. Wireless Link enables video playback and transfer, with easy setup via a smartphone app.

Apart from the need to remove body panels on some larger bikes, installation is simple and straightforward. A video of the process can be seen at: https://youtu.be/3CS3XWDVx5U
