5 1933 Royal Enfield Bullet
The term Bullet first appeared in the Royal Enfield model range for 1933, applied to a sporty 250 with an inclined OHV engine with a twin port head. The following year the Bullet range expanded to three models in 250, 350 and 500cc sizes. Post-war, the Bullet was completely redesigned and made its debut at the 1948 Earls Court Show. A neat swinging arm frame was a big selling point. During the 1950s, Royal Enfield secured a contract with the government of India to produce the 350 Bullet, initially in military form but soon in civilian guise as well. While the British Royal Enfield company folded in 1967, the Indian version is well and truly alive, and the Bullet, in 350 and 500 forms, is still being produced. n
