For everyone who survived the excesses of the ‘seventies, the following decade brought a wave of highly sophisticated motorcycles. These ranged from the lithe water-cooled LC Yamahas to big bruisers like the Yamaha V-Max 1200. In between was a tempting array of sports models such as the Kawasaki ZXR750 and the Yamaha FZR1000, both of which would give racing Superbikes a real run for their money. It was an era of liquidcooling, four valve DOHC heads, and increasingly efficient suspension and brakes. The author has selected fifty examples, each one different in its own way, and most, more than four decades later, highly collectable. Each model has a concise overview rather than pages of detail, which makes the book very readable. The quality of the photography is also very high.
