Pheasant Wood gears up for September

-

Perhaps Australia’s only meeting concentrating solely on the early periods of Classic Racing, the All-Historic Weekend takes place at Pheasant Wood at Marulan, 30km north of Goulburn NSW on September 9-11. This is a combined motorcycle and car meeting that echoes the origins of Historic Racing at Sydney’s Amaroo Park from 1975. Motorcycle racing classes from Veterans up to Period 3 (December 31st 1962) in both solo and sidecar will be catered for. In addition, Regularity Trials for solos (timed events) but not races will be held.

The existing 1.6 km circuit is ideal for Historic Racing, being wide and well surfaced, with several challenging corners. It is also kinder on old engines than the faster circuits. It also has excellent spectator viewing and parking areas, a dedicated trade display area, fully sealed pit and paddock areas open to spectators. With the recent purchase of the neighbouring 200 acre property, the next stage in Pheasant Wood’s history will be the construction of a longer 3.6km circuit with the aim of having it operational by 2023.

Following the successful ‘Play Day’ in January, another of these events will give intending competitors a further chance to experience the Pheasant Wood layout on July 30th, 2022. Just $150 covers insurance and a timing transponder and you can do as many laps as you want. A licence will cost an extra $30 – valid for the September meeting.

The 2022 All Historic Weekend will be a rare glimpse into the way Classic Racing began; an opportunity for competitors to bring out long-garaged machines and give them a blast in front of an appreciative audience. For more information, contact
