Classic Motorcycle Club of Victoria 50th Anniversary Rally

Covid forced the postponement of our 50th anniversary rally in March 2021 and again in November 2021. Finally, we were able to hold the rally at the historic and picturesque coastal town of Port Fairy in Victoria’s southwest. The CMCCV caters for all makes and models of motorcycles 25 years and older. Rally HQ was located at the Big 4 Tourist Park, Port Fairy which has a mix of cabins, motel style accommodation and caravan sites. Around 60 members and 40 bikes (the overwhelming majority being classics), attended. Our hosts allowed us exclusive use of the Shearwater Room, which was put to good use for our regular ‘happy hour’ and two fully-catered meals.

Rides, varying in distance from 120km to 250km were conducted on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and a short ride on Saturday morning following a Show & Shine. Wednesday being a ‘rest’ day, allowed members to take in the sights and history of the area. All rides were marshalled and followed by a backup trailer which had only minimum use. The weather was also kind to us with only light drizzle a couple of mornings, the rest of the time being fine. On Saturday evening we wined and dined at the ‘Wharf’ restaurant, with of course, a gold theme. Many people went to great lengths to dress up for the occasion and a great night was had by all. During the evening we held an auction of various memorabilia, books and magazines. Together with a very generous donation from the Wharf management and the CMCCV a total of $1,000 was presented to local charity Moyneana. ■
