Day 2
Cradle Mountain > Corinna
Wake up in the wilderness refreshed and raring to go – start the day with a kayaking outing on Dove Lake. Then it’s time to get on the road and head west – join the B23, stopping along the way at Waratah for a peek at the wide waterfall that flows through the centre of town and once powered seven waterwheels for the world’s largest tin mine. Continue on towards Corinna, where you can lace up those boots once again and head off into the remarkable Tarkine Forest Reserve. You’ll find yourself walking beneath towering myrtle beech and celery top pine, skirting wild rivers and encountering diverse wildlife. Corinna – a one-time gold rush town with renovated cottages and campsites along the banks of the Pieman River – is the perfect spot to bunk down for the night.
