return to the playing field in 2018 after knee surgery mid-2017, and after a big preseason is looking fit and ready for the rigours of football once again.

The Bushranger­s have enjoyed strong preseason form, defeating King Valley in their first practice match and then pushing a strong Bright team in a positive step for the side as they look to climb the ladder.

Beechworth finished ninth in the Tallangatt­a and District League last year with six wins.

With previous coaching experience with the Bushranger­s from 2009- 2011 as well as a stint with round one opponents, Chiltern, Shaun Pritchard is keen for games to get underway.

“We have been working pretty hard on the track and there a lot of positive signs throughout the group,” Pritchard said.

“We don’t want to get too ahead of ourselves yet, but we have a definite aim for finals.”

The Bushranger­s host Chiltern this Saturday with football action from 9.10am.

“We will go into this game confident, Chiltern are in a similar situation to us so it will be a level playing field,” Pritchard said.
