BEECHWORTH Butchery kicked off with a fresh start after new business owners took the reins earlier this week.

Proprietor Dan Cooper, who has settled back in town with his wife Clare after working around Victoria, said he had always wanted to own his own business.

“I did my apprenticeship in this shop 22 years ago,” the fifth generation Beechworthian said.

Local identities Luke and Kylie Whybrow who had owned the business for more than 11 years both said the sale meant the start of a new chapter in their lives.

But the couple said they would miss their wonderful customers.

“We’re staying in the area and happy to be beginning a different chapter with a good break after not having holidays for a very long time,” Ms Whybrow said.

Customers dropped in throughout last week wishing the well- respected pair the best with many giving them flowers and gifts.

Their business’s Facebook page was also inundated with good wishes for their future from happy customers who thanked them for friendly service and quality meat while welcoming messages to the new owners were posted too.
