Twelve players celebrate Father’s Day
IN a Father’s Day twist, 12 players paired together in a Fourball Multiplier event at the Beechworth Golf Club on Sunday.
It’s a well-known fact that dads who play with their children help them develop better, and that was certainly the case for the father-son combination of Dean Howard and Jacob Howard who tallied 55 points.
Second place went to the only other paternal matching of Andy Croome and Ben Croome on 51, again proving that dads, too, feel guilty when they leave their kids.
Some dads struggle with the mental pressure of parenthood, and maybe this was to blame for the remaining pairings of Brenton Pool and Col Carmody on 49, Dave Atkins and Zane Howard on 49, Mick Deuis and John Sheehan on 38, and Jamie Dolny and Brian Cropley on 37.
Traditionally, fathers tend to take a back seat when it comes to the household chores, but Brenton put this to bed by cleaning up with nearest the pins on the 3rd and 10th, with Mick also chipping in on the 5th.
There will be a fair few absent fathers next week with 19 players set to descend on Maldon for the 2018 Victorian Sandgreen Championships from September 5-9.
For those who cannot get the entire weekend off, Chiltern will be hosting their annual tournament on Sunday.
