New life breathed into Old Priory

Ovens & Murray Advertiser - - NEWS - By MARK STEPHENS

NEW owners of The Old Priory, Dr Remo Parente and Angela Murphy are breathing new life into the building and the business while respecting the past and honouring its traditions.

Dr Parente said they came from the city and they were enchanted by Beechworth and the Priory.

“I was a medical educator at RMIT with a passion for old buildings and when we visited here we felt such strong connections that instead of us finding the Priory we now believe that it found us,” Dr Parente said.

Ms. Murphy is also a teacher, was a catering officer in the Royal Australian Air Force and has owned and operated successful businesses in both Melbourne and the Western District.

“We love music, history, theatre, and education for life, and we are committed to continuing and developing the school camp programs, accommodation, and community functions and weddings,” Ms Murphy said.
