Local venues among those to get chef hat awards

THREE businesses in North East Victoria are among those to receive chef hat awards from the Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG) released this week.

Provenance Restaurant in Beechworth scored a 15 in this year’s edition, with The Terrace Restaurant at All Saints Estate reaching 13 and Miss Amelie in Wodonga earning a 12.

Inspectors appointed by the AGFG dine anonymously at venues before submitting a score out of 20 based on food alone, as part of a system company directors say is designed to encourage creativity.

Their reviews, and the opinions of the dining public who send in comments throughout the year, determine the results.

The rating for Provenance Restaurant puts it in the “food quite out of the ordinary” category, while The Terrace and Miss Amelie were commended as a good restaurant in their category.

The three top scoring restaurants this year, each reaching 19, were Attica in Melbourne along with Quay and Bentley Restaurant and Bar in Sydney.
