Red Hands Black Deeds is the sixth album from hard rocking Shaman’s Harvest. Hailing from the US state of Missouri, this five-piece outfit of mainly vocals, guitars, bass and drums is a reminder that rock music is still king. The title track opens the album, its slow, decisive beat and deep harmonies a contradiction as to what lies ahead. ‘The Come Up’ has a sound not unlike that of INXS, its lyrics referring to lead singer Nathan Hunt’s battle with throat cancer and depression. The ominous opening sets the scene for anti-war anthem ‘The Devil In Our Wake’, while ‘A Longer View’ starts innocently enough with a piano solo before upping the volume and impact. The southern-style guitar licks on ‘Off The Tracks’ and mostly acoustic ‘Tusk And Bone’ provides the balance for this fine rock album.
