This newly remastered 18-track collection covers the career of Australian ’60s pop star Robie Porter, or Rob E.G. as he was known early on. A master of the lap steel guitar, Rob E.G. had a series of instrumental top 10 hits from 1962 to 1964, including ‘55 Days At Peking’ and ‘Si Si Senor’, which both hit number one. Those tracks are included here, as are ‘Jezebel’ and ‘Whiplash’. From 1966 onwards he changed tack, dispensing with his Rob E.G. moniker. As Robie Porter, he began recording his lower register vocals, releasing big production numbers such as ‘Gemini’ in 1970. Other vocal tracks include dramatic ballads ‘When You’re Not Near’ and ‘Either Way I Lose’. As an aside, Porter later founded his own record label, producing albums for Daddy Cool and other Aussie bands.
