With TSMC announcing that it has started mass production of 7nm parts for Nvidia, and that “shipments for Nvidia’s newgeneration GPUs will play another driver of TSMC’s revenue growth in the fourth quarter”, it’s very obvious that Nvidia will drop its next generation of GPU’s upon us quite soon.

It’s expected that at the back end of August, sometime during Gamescom, the official announcement of the next generation GeForce cards will happen. Apparently AIBs will start being seeded with very limited quantities of units to start their work on in early August. So, don’t expect availability in August, perhaps September for Founder’s Edition units with custom AIB designs to follow sometime thereafter.

Not much is known about these “Turing” GPU-based cards, but double-digit performance increases are expected over the GTX 1080 Ti, and with GDDR6 test board pictures showing up, it is easy to surmise that GDDR6 will also be the memory of choice on the new cards too.

With Intel 9th gen processors due in August along with a new GeForce launch, August is going to be quite a fun time for PC builders and upgraders!
