BEST SOUND
JAMES O’CONNOR
NIER: AUTOMATA
I didn’t get into Nier the way many others did, but the soundtrack, at least, was a genuine delight. DANIEL WILKS
NIER AUTOMATA
The soundtrack is amazing and the voice acting is extremely effective for the most part. KOSTA ANDREADIS
RUINER
Cyberpunk action-thing Ruiner is that rare title that manages to understand that music isn’t just there to add a bit of background. It can also play a pivotal role in setting the tempo of melee weapons being swung and bullets being fired. JAMES COTTEE
BRIGADOR: UPARMORED EDITION
If you’ve ever wistfully asked the question ‘ Why don’t they make top-down isometric action games like MechAssault or Desert Strike anymore?’, then you’ll find your answer in Brigador. It might be the best game ever made in this genre, but its creators have been rewarded for their labours with poverty and obscurity. I paid full price for Brigador, and it was worth it for the blistering neo-' 80s synthwave soundtrack alone. DAVID WILDGOOSE
NIER AUTOMATA
The best video game soundtrack since, well, the original NieR.
