Both Hollingworth and Wilks were fans of Total War: Warhammer, but the game had some serious issues when it came to balance, with enemy AI often being so aggressive than any significant advancement was nigh impossible. Total War: Warhammer II fixed that problem and delivered one of the best Total War experiences to date, with the city building and combat both feeling fully fleshed out and satisfying.
