MUTANT YEAR ZERO: ROAD TO EDEN ANNOUNCED

The prequel to Swedish RPG Mutant Chronicles gets a game courtesy of Norway

-

Mutant Year Zero, a pen and paper RPG by Swedish design group Fria Ligan is the prequel to the popular early ‘90s Swedish RPG (and not so popular movie spinoff) Mutant Chronicles and is soon to be a “tactical adventure game” thanks to Swedish games developer, Bearded Ladies, and Norwegian publisher, Funcom. Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden will combine turn-based tactical combat in the vein of X-Com with real time exploration of the “post-human” Earth.

According to Ulf Andersson, a member of Bearded Ladies who previously worked on the Payday games, “Our goal is to blend the deep and tactical combat of XCOM with branching storylines that unfold as you explore overgrown forests and abandoned cities with your team of Mutants. Mixing that with real-time stealth gameplay gives you a unique way to approach or avoid combat situations you encounter while exploring.”

If that’s not enough to to intrigue you, the cinematic trailer for the game features a character who looks like a cross between Daffy and Duckman. Who wouldn’t want to play that?
