BRAKES AND WHEELS
The Maloo R8 comes with fourpiston forged calipers front and back. The sporty stoppers sit behind twenty-inch cast flowformed wheels wrapped in 255/30/20 (front) and 275/30/20 (rear) rubber linked to a tyre pressure monitoring system. A spare wheel was an optional extra.
Check for signs of disc pitting and pad wear. The model’s anchors are often hammered as hard as its throttle, and replacement parts can be expensive.
The more powerful VXR8 GTS received six-piston calipers at the front with huge 390mm two-piece discs. Fitting this kit to to the Maloo is a straightforward job.
The Maloo’s standard rotors are 367mm at the front and 372mm at the rear. EBC supplies ceramic pads in a variety of compounds to suit differing driving styles. The same company also supplies discs with various face options.
