How to avoid clipping

Make use of the handy Highlight alert

black, detail-free shadows can look natural – clipped highlights look ugly. If clipping is severe, you won’t be able to recover detail in these areas, even if you shoot Raw and reduce exposure in post (far right). Try enabling Highlight alert in the blue Playback menu, this will blink a warning if the image at risk of being overexposed.
