THE WINNER IS... KENRO KAROO ULTIMATE TRAVEL TRIPOD
The Kenro Karoo wins out for all-round versatility
The Kenro works well as a full-sized tripod, as well as folding down enough to make it an ideal travel companion. Clever features include a pivoting centre column, only matched by the less travel-friendly Manfrotto tripods in this group. If you want a simple, conventional tripod, the Benro Mach3 kit with its 3-way head is a top option.
If you want to downsize, the Sirui rules. However, even with its fivesection legs and two-section centre column, the maximum operating height of 150cm is the shortest in class. The MEFOTO Globetrotter is 5cm taller when folded, but stretches to a generous 165cm, as well as having a greater load capacity. If small carry size is crucial, the MEFOTO is a better buy.
