STEP BY STEP PANNING TO PERFECTION
Add a motion blur to turn still shots into intense panning images
01 ENTER GUIDED MODE
Click on the ‘Guided’ tab at the top of the screen to bring up the Guided modes. Before you enter the Guided workflow, you’ll need to choose the image you want to work with, so click ‘Open’ and select your file.
02 CHOOSE SPEED PAN
Now click on the ‘Fun Edits’ tab and scroll down to the bottom of the screen. From here click on the ‘Speed Pan’ option, which will launch the Guided workflow process using the image you opened.
03 SELECT SUBJECT
Click ‘Quick Selection Tool’. Either keep the mouse button depressed and drag the tool across your subject to intelligently select it, or repeatedly click until all of your subject is selected. Use the ‘Subtract’ button to deselect areas you don’t want.
04 ADD THE BLUR
Click ‘Add Motion Blur’ to add blur to the background. Use the Intensity slider to increase or decrease the blur, and adjust its direction of using the Angle tool. You can paint in or out any unwanted blur using the Refine Effect Brush. When finished, click ‘Next’.
05 ENTER EXPERT MODE
Click on Continue Editing ‘In Expert’. Go to Layer>flatten Image to flatten the picture, then Image>rotate>free Rotate Layer to straighten it. Now use the Crop Tool to give the photograph a slightly better composition.
06 ADD VIGNETTE
Click the ‘Guided’ tab and then ‘Basics’, then scroll down and select the ‘Vignette Effect’ option. Choose ‘Black’ and use the Intensity and ‘Refine Shape’ sliders to refine your vignette. When you’re happy, click ‘Next’ and then save your finished image.
