When you’re shooting a scene for an HDR (high dynamic range) image ideally you’ll need a good mixture of light to capture a full range of tones, from shadows to mid-tones to bright highlights, so you can bring this out in your composite image. However, too much of a mixture – such as harsh midday sunshine – can be too extreme for a realistic result. So aim for mid mornings and late afternoons for softer, more believable, lighting.
