the main at­trac­tion of Man­ual ex­po­sure mode is that the cam­era can’t al­ter the ex­po­sure set­tings once you’ve di­alled them in. You pre­set the aper­ture and shut­ter speed (and ISO un­less you have it set to Auto) and, as long as the light­ing stays the same, so will the ex­po­sure. It’s use­ful when you want to keep the sub­ject con­sis­tently well ex­posed re­gard­less of a change in back­ground.
