auto lighting Optimizer (ALO) helps control contrast and ‘open up’ darker areas to reveal detail that may have been lost. But the effect isn’t always wanted. Although you may apply negative exposure comp or use Manual mode to create a dark image, the picture can still appear too bright with ALO active.
