long exposure noise

Similar to high ISOS, long exposures can lead to noisy pictures. Your camera has a Long Exposure Noise Reduction which you’ll find in the red Shooting menu or the Custom Functions menu. You can set it to Auto or On, both of which apply noise reduction to pictures that have exposures of one second or longer. Be warned: the process can take the same amount of time as the original exposure and you won’t be able to take another shot until it’s done its thing. That can add up when the original exposure runs into minutes!
