LIGHTING SETUP TIPS
We’ve used a pair of continuous lights for our finished shot, but you could use any number of light sources. Natural light will work but, at this time of year with the winter gloom, you’ll need to shoot around midday when the light is brightest. You could also use a dedicated macro ring flash, though because it’s a very directional light you will probably end up with some unwanted shadows. An ideal lighting setup would be the lightbox that we built last month (issue 147), which can be lit with speedlights (as we’ve done above), table lamps or even phone lights.
