Step by step CROPPING tips
Refine your compositions for a better photograph
01 Aspect ratio crops
Lightroom’s crop tool has a built-in aspect ratio drop-down list, which conforms the length and width of the crop by a certain ratio. This makes it easier to get photos to a uniform aspect ratio. We chose 8.5x11 to reduce the length of the longest edge of the photo.
02 rotate crop Aspect
Obviously in this portrait the model fits in vertically against the backdrop quite easily, but we want to cut out the gear around the edge of the frame. So we hit the Rotate Crop Aspect button to flip the ratio from 11(w)x8.5(h) to 8.5(w)x11(h).
