This was personal work. When I do free shoots to build up my portfolio they are strategic, so I was working with a makeup artist, Yvonne Macinnis, who was a brand ambassador for two companies that I wanted to work with; I knew that if I worked with this person my work will be seen by the companies. I’ve been meaning to do a shoot inspired by Mondrian because I love his use of colour and graphic imagery. I sent her an inspiration board and asked, if we could come up with some sort of makeup, inspired by this artist?” What’s on her face here is different types of tape. She had purchased these items and had built the composition for me. I needed to light it in a way that would mimic Mondrian’s look and style.
