Step by Step Master the Cloning workflow

here’s a step-by-step guide to automatic and manual cloning of dust spots and other distractions

01 Remove sensor spots

We’ve opened our Raw file in DPP. Press x1 to zoom into 100%. Click on the Copy Stamp palette. Click Dark. Set Pen Type to Brush. Set Radius to 20. Click on grey specks to replace them with clear blue sky. Click a few times, if necessary.

02 sample an area

The reflections are too complex to remove automatically. Click Select Copy Source. Tick Fix Copy Source Position to make the tool re-sample the same patch of blue sky each time you click. Click to sample a clear patch of blue sky.

03 Clone out Reflections

Place the cursor over a reflection and spray. The sampled blue sky will appear in the cursor. Spray little and often to hide the reflections with clear blue sky. Use the step-by-step undo button if you accidentally clone bits you don’t want.
