Amazonbasics Electronic Flash
£25/$29 www.amazon.com
amazon’s budget contender sports a tilt-swivel head for bouncing the flash burst. The head won’t zoom to match your lens’s focal length but you can’t have it all at this price.
The build feels on par with rivals costing several times more; there’s a metal hot shoe mount, and a stand and pouch are included. The rear control panel is easy to use. Flash power is adjustable down to 1/128 brightness and full power is rated at GN33. Quite low, but not awful. However, illumination is even across the image frame, with no colour cast. This is a manual flash with a single-contact hot shoe, so works with major camera brands. You can use it as an opticallytriggered slave in S1 or S2 slave modes: you’ll need to be indoors and in close range for syncing.
