Are you ready for raw files?
Raw files take up more space on your memory cards than JPEGS
We’ve chosen a small selection of Canon cameras as examples. Canon has offered two ways of reducing the size of Raw files. One is to use M-raw (medium size image files) or S-raw (small image size) files, but these capture photos at a lower resolution, which we don’t recommend unless you are sure this is adequate. With the EOS M50, however, Canon introduced a new CR3 Raw format (also used on the EOS R) which has a C-raw option. The C-raw option captures full-resolution images but uses ‘lossy’ compression to produce much smaller Raw files at full resolution and with a barely perceptible difference in quality.
